30 NovThe Society of Women Engineers (Assignment 8)

The Society of Women Engineers was formed on May 27, 1950. It was composed of 50 women. Now, in 2011, it has over 17,000 members. The Society of Women Engineer’s mission is to “stimulate women to achieve full potential in careers as engineers and leaders, expand the image of the engineering profession as a positive force in improving the quality of life, demonstrate the value of diversity.” Kathryn D. Sullivan would not be part of it because it is for engineers and she is a geologist. Although she did fix some issues with the space shuttles (EVA) she isn’t considered an engineer. I think it would support the views of Kathryn D. Sullivan because I thinks she thinks that women should be encouraged to pursue a science career.
